Painful experiences in your past can have a lasting effect that leaves you feeling a lack of control.
PTSD and trauma can be caused by major events, like abuse, natural disasters, or the loss of a loved one, but can also be the result of the many stressors and demands of our everyday lives. Events like a relationship ending, traffic accidents, losing a job or moving homes can cause trauma to manifest.
Trauma affects each of us in different ways, but can cause you to feel:
Stuck and unmotivated, unsure of how to break out of old patterns.
Numb and unable to fully enjoy your time with friends or family.
Overwhelming guilt or shame.
Avoidant and emotionally unavailable, causing problems in your relationships.
Many of us are never taught how to cope with these symptoms and keep our mental health in balance.
Fortunately, relief is possible.
Working with a trained psychologist can help you fill the gaps and learn how to regain control.
Our sessions together would be flexibly tailored to match your unique needs and use evidence-based methodologies that help you recognise the connection between what’s happening in your brain and responses in your body.
My role as a therapist is to provide you with guidance as you work through the root causes of your trauma, treating you as a whole, so you can gain more knowledge about yourself and how you can create a more balanced life.
We would work well together if you are looking for:
- A safe and secure place where you can be heard and understood.
- Support whilst also being challenged.
- Tools and strategies to better cope and manage your life and your feelings as well as have more control over your behaviour.
- Tips to develop better connections with yourself and your loved ones.
- Ways to improve your confidence and self-esteem.
- Direction in your life again.
- Hope about your future.
